What Football Fans May Not Know About Gino Pozzo but Probably Should

Gino Pozzo fell in love with football long before he became the owner of the Watford Football Club. As a child growing up in Udine, Italy, he was always intrigued by the sport, which makes sense given that his family always maintained relationships with presidents of the Udinese Calcio football club. So that everyone is on the same page, Udinese Calcio is a professional Italian football club based in Udine, Friuli-Venezia Giulia. Being so close to Udinese Calcio, both through family interactions and watching the team play, made Pozzo realize that he wanted to one day become the owner of a football team.

When he was just 18 years old, Pozzo left Italy and traveled to the U.S. There, he earned his degree from the prestigious Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts and later married the love of his life before moving to Barcelona, Spain. He remained there for 20 years and became a father to three wonderful children. After earning his degree, getting married, and becoming a dad, Pozzo recognized it was time to bring his childhood dream to fruition. In June 2012, he did just that when he and his father purchased the Watford Football Club from prior owner Laurence Bassini for 500,000 British pounds, and later, in 2014, he bought his father’s interest in the team to become the sole owner. The rest, as they say, is history. Visit this page for additional information.
