Shelton Haynes is the President of Roosevelt Island Operating Corporation (RIOC). This not-for-profit organization owns and operates Roosevelt Island, a 28-acre island in New York City’s East River between Manhattan and Queens.
Shelton Haynes was previously president of the (RIOC) Service Center, overseeing all service operations for Roosevelt island, including building maintenance; security; transportation; grounds keeping.
Lifeguard services at both pools on Roosevelt Island and two beaches offshore at North Cove Park are under lease from NYC Parks & Recreation Dept.

Youth programs. The youth center hosts after-school and summer programs for children, teens, and adults. These include tutoring, computer training, art classes, and more. The program is open to all Roosevelt Island residents regardless of age or income level.
Community events calendar. This online calendar lists upcoming events taking place on the island so residents can easily find out what’s happening around them at any given time during the year
We are pleased to announce that the (RIOC) youth program will expand its services to include a new service center and youth center. The service center will offer a variety of resources for residents and visitors alike, including childcare services, job training programs, and more.
