In Gladewater, Texas, Kelcy Warren was born in the year 1955. Warren began doing odd jobs when he was 12 years old. A gas station employed him. He started operating in the oilfield when he became older. He helped welders, installed pipelines, worked as a lineman maintaining a telephone network for meter reading, and was a part of a team that repaired oilfield leaks. Kelcy Warren intended to excel academically.
In 1974, Warren started attending the University of Texas. Warren’s engineering professor, Dr. Syed Qasim, suggested that his student applies for a scholarship. Warren signed up, was awarded the money, and won the competition with his research on methane gas production. In 1978, Warren graduated with a degree in civil engineering.
He worked for Lone Star Energy Firm as a pipeline graphic artist. He joined Endevco and switched to the business side of the sector a few years later. In 1992, Warren and a business partner acquired Endevco and changed the name to Cornerstone Natural Gas.
Warren later took over as Energy Transfer’s president. Warren has overseen one of the nation’s largest and most diverse portfolios of publicly traded energy ventures. Kelcy Warren has achieved great success at work. Every time Warren engages with young people, he advises them to be honest with themselves.
In 1997, Warren established a fund at his alma mater in honor of Professor Qasim. Warren primarily funded Klyde Warren Park in Dallas. He named the park after his son, who was 14 years old. Every year, Kelcy Warren organizes a fundraiser for Cherokee Crossroads, Inc.
Warren has received the Hanlon Medal from the Energy Processors Retailers Organization as well as the Ernst and Young Inventor of the Year Award. He has served on the council of The Lamplighter Institute and participated in the Texas Business Hall of Fame. See related link to learn more.
