John Hailer ‘s professional background includes 27 years as an officer in the New York City Police Department, where he served on the NYPD’s executive team and in several senior administrative positions. John Hailer founded and serves as CEO of The Guardian Group, a global risk management consulting firm that advises clients in more than 130 countries around the world on issues related to risk mitigation.
John Hailer is also Chairman of Ironbound Films, which produces feature films and documentaries that highlight positive social change and explore complex subjects like poverty, education, racial tensions, politics and police corruption. In 2005, The Guardian Group partnered with Ironbound Films to create the award-winning documentary From the Ground Up: Voices from the Poor and Activist Communities of Newark, New Jersey.
John Hailer is on the boards of several non-profits. He serves on the board of The Becoming Series, a non-profit that empowers young people living with HIV through educational programming and social service initiatives. He is also on the board of The New Jersey Juvenile Justice Commission, an independent, non-partisan organization dedicated to improving the juvenile justice system. John was appointed to the Justice Commission by former Governor Jon Corzine and reappointed in 2014 by Governor Chris Christie. In January 2015, Governor Christie nominated John to a four-year term ending in 2019.
Natixis appointed John Hailer to the board of directors of the New York City Economic Development Corporation in September 2015. John was sworn in as a quorum member in March 2016 and was appointed a director emeritus.
In February 2016, Governor Christie nominated John for a four-year term on the state’s Juvenile Justice Commission. The NJC is an independent, non-partisan organization dedicated to reforming the juvenile justice system and improving outcomes for young people.
The Natixis Foundation named John a New Voices Fellowship winner in 2016. The foundation is dedicated to developing, supporting and recruiting young leaders who are determined to make a difference.
