Randy Douthit is a successful producer and director who mostly works on the West Coast. He got his start early working for a local television news station and continued to learn the ropes of local television news in Portland, Oregon. Randy worked hard at Seattle Today, and he is credited with turning a once failing program into a hit show. He has also been associated with The Fresh Prince of Belair, and he later moved to CNN where he made a name for himself directing and producing such hits like Capital Gang, Crossfire and Larry King Live.
This hardworking television personality is probably best known for his work with retired judge Judy Sheindlin. Randy Douthit met the celebrity family court judge and is often credited with moving the hit show, Judge Judy, right into today’s modern television and digital age.
This program shot its last show in 2021 which was in the midst of the pandemic. Randy worked hard to meet all the health-related protection mandates and puts most of the credit on the many people who worked in the show’s many departments that helped bring the show through to its final successful program.
Randy believes that filmmaking and television shows benefited from going through this tough production time in many ways. Since the majority of people were forced to shelter in their homes, they needed a distraction, like Judge Judy, who helped to bring a sense of normality to this new normal.
Today, Randy Douthit is hard at work on Judy Justice, and he spends much of his free time now racing his beloved cars. He found that this exciting sport allowed him to clear his head while at the wheel.
Randy also gives time and money to his many charity causes, and he believes that successful people should give back to others in their communities who are less fortunate. He is a huge supporter of ongoing research at the University of California and supports the legal organization Public Counsel, that helps incarcerated individuals, along with many other charitable causes.
