In 2014, frustrated with slow lab results for critical cases, Chad Price decided to take control of the situation by starting his own lab. With no lab or medical experience, Chad Price, as CEO, and his friend Josh Arant, as COO, started Mako Medical Laboratories. Drawn together by a shared interest in contemporary conservative business practices, Price and Arant realized the opportunity for a business partnership. A mission statement based on their faith convinced them of their eventual success.
Google searches on customer issues with existing laboratory companies helped develop a business plan. Focusing on customer contact, quick turnaround time, and transparency, Mako found almost immediate success. Price and Arant also wanted to focus on those in the military. Mako developed programs that provided services specifically for active military and those transitioning back to civilian life. In early 2020 Mako Medical was selected for the Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award.
Mako Medical has transitioned into a full service medical service company. The addition of staffing services, logistical support, medical transportation, and even medical waste services resulted in Mako’s topping Triangle Business Journal’s Fast 50 list. Estimates put the lab’s growth in excess of $200 Million in 2021.
Chad Price’s desire to provide superior laboratory testing services has clearly been achieved. Over the past six years, Price and Arant have grown Mako Medical Laboratories into a national example for medical providers.
