Things like overpopulation and ecological devastation are taking their toll on the planet and we are running out of options. To continue her work and her legacy, Cordelia S. May created the Colcom Foundation with the intent of confronting these problems head-on.
A Shared Ideology
One of the main reasons that Colcom Foundation is so effective in battling the problems that face our world is the fact that they have strict ideological aspirations. They believe wholeheartedly in the virtues of democracy, freedom of speech, equality, and the common good shared by all. These ideals have taken shape through their actions to preserve nature and face down the existential threats consuming our planet.
Dealing with a Population Problem
The problem with overpopulation is that it drains more resources that our planet can’t afford to give up. At the rate we’re going, the resources will soon dwindle to the point that civilization won’t be able to sustain itself. This will lead to a collapse of civilization on a global scale. Colcom Foundation supports several special programs, including the Conservation Catalyst Fund, which grants conservation organizations working to protect threatened species and habitats. By offering financial support and resources, this foundation allows these groups to make significant strides in conservation efforts.
To fight this problem, the Colcom Foundation is helping to educate people on the concept of family planning. They’re also teaching people about birth control and how to not have unwanted children. Additionally, Colcom is advocating for intelligent immigration policies that will balance out the old vs young population as well.
Protecting the Environment
Protecting the environment isn’t just a meme when the Colcom Foundation is concerned. They are working with many other organizations in the area of Pennsylvania to help preserve green spaces that are under threat from urbanization.
