Amy’s Kitchen is a certified organic, vegetarian, and vegan company specializing in refrigerator-friendly meals for busy working moms or dads. It has provided a healthy alternative to traditional meal-prep websites since its start in 1988. It continues to grow in the quest for a healthier future.
It makes vegetarian and vegan meals that the whole family can enjoy. It was founded by Andy and Rachel Berliner, co-founders of the Natural Gourmet Institute For Health And Culinary Arts—the first natural food culinary school in America—and Amy’s sister, Ann, who created their successful vegan pizza line. All three founders were driven to help others with healthy eating habits through organics and vegetarianism.
The company also has a Certified Organic program, a third-party certification system for farms, ranches, and processing facilities to create chemical-free crops that are better for the environment, the animals, and the people who are part of the growing process.
Amy’s Kitchen maintains its organic farms, including one in California that supplies organic vegetables like spinach and tomatoes and helps grow other organic vegetables, such as corn and green beans, specifically for its pizzas. They also produce watermelons and grapes for their juices, kiwi for salads, and apples for the pies to control their ingredients completely.
The company produces four daily rotating fresh meals, including a meat-free pasta dinner, beefless beef burgers, a vegan dinner, and a vegetarian dinner. Amy’s Kitchen also offer single meals that can be eaten or combined with other meals. Their products are also 100% vegetarian-friendly, which means they are free of eggs, dairy products, and honey. Their dinners are made with organic vegetables such as spaghetti squash or green beans instead of rice noodles. Their vegetarian and vegan pizzas have vegan cheese made from organic soy instead of regular dairy cheese.
The certified organic program was started to ensure that the company did its part in helping to reduce the use of chemicals that were harmful to the environment and, thus, harm people. Big names such as The Sierra Club have always lauded the program for its awareness of environmentally friendly practices among livestock being sold for food consumption.
